UDA tells IEBC to ignore opposition’s rigging claims ahead of by-elections
By Mustafa Juma, November 26, 2025The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has dismissed claims by the United Opposition that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is compromised ahead of Thursday’s by-elections.
While urging the electoral body to ignore the claims, UDA, through its Secretary General Hassan Omar, in a statement issued on the night of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, said the allegations are a sign of panic and anticipated defeat.

The party described the opposition’s claims as “reckless and baseless”, aimed at politicising the electoral process and setting the stage to reject the will of the people.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party is concerned by the reckless and baseless allegations made by the opposition over the integrity of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in conducting tomorrow’s by-elections. These claims are nothing more than a predictable attempt to politicise the electoral process and prepare the ground for rejecting the will of the people,” Omar stated.
“Clearly, the joint opposition has sensed imminent defeat at the ballot. Their strategy of attacking our democratic institutions whenever they stare defeat in the face is a tired, old-fashioned, corrosive, and primitive way of life and an insult to the intelligence of Kenyan voters.”

IEBC professionalism and transparency
UDA insisted that the IEBC is an independent constitutional agency that has consistently demonstrated professionalism and transparency in the conduct of elections, including the upcoming by-elections across 22 wards and constituencies.
“They have realised that they have little presence across Kenya, and Kenyans have seen through their constant empty outbursts as deceptive politics. The voters will give them their due on Thursday, embarrassment at the ballot,” UDA stated.
“The IEBC is an independent constitutional agency mandated to conduct free, fair, and credible elections. The commission has demonstrated commendable professionalism and transparency in the management of these by-elections. To suggest otherwise without a shred of tangible evidence is to undermine the very foundation of our democracy.”

UDA’s call to voters
UDA also urged Kenyans eligible to vote to turn out in large numbers while ignoring claims of violence or malpractice by the opposition. The party also called on law enforcement agencies to maintain order and ensure a secure environment for voters.
“We urge the IEBC to ignore the senseless claims by our opponents and continue with their duty of conducting a free and transparent process. The electoral body must put these sore losers to shame. We have confidence in the electoral team,” the statement read.
“Meanwhile, we urge Kenyans in wards and constituencies that will take part in the by-elections to turn up in large numbers and exercise their right, ignoring the claims of violence by our opponents.”
