UDA, PDP agree to field one candidate in Bonchari mini poll

By , March 11, 2021

Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Secretary General, Charles Mogere has said the party decided to field former Bonchari MP Oroo Oyioka’s widow Teresa Bitutu jointly with United Democratic Alliance ( UDA) after she  identified the latter associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

Mogere said that during Oroo’s funeral at Itierio school grounds in Kisii South Sub County, in Kisii county, PDP party leader, Omingo Magara pledged to support her parliamentary bid regardless of the party she joined.

Speaking during the funeral, Magara said she would support her to win the seat so that she could complete projects her husband had started.

The party Secretary General said many Aspirants had sought a PDP ticket but the party’s leadership declined since it could have created unnecessary competition and affect her chances of winning the seat.

“UDA and PDP leaders had intensive consultations and  they agreed to jointly give her the UDA ticket and campaign for her ahead of the May 18 by-election,” Mogere told People Daily on phone yesterday.
