UDA: ODM–Kenya Kwanza pact reaffirms NADCO report implementation
By Joel Masibo, August 18, 2025The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has lauded the ODM–Kenya Kwanza pact formalisation held on Monday, August 18, 2025, in Karen. UDA and ODM top brass convened a Parliamentary Group meeting to deliberate on the way forward in regards to the newly found political marriage.
Following the meeting, the ruling party termed the new working frame that gave birth to the broad-based government as a milestone in Kenya’s political landscape and a direct reaffirmation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
The session, which brought together MPs allied to President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, is seen as a critical step in anchoring bipartisan cooperation in Parliament. It is built upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed previously between the two leaders, signalling a commitment to push forward with national reforms.
At the heart of the meeting is a 10-point programme spearheaded by a committee chaired by former ODM Secretary-General Agnes Zani. The wide-ranging agenda covers economic recovery, job creation, cost of living interventions, youth and women empowerment, electoral reforms, strengthening devolution, and the fight against corruption. Also under discussion are proposals for national healing, including compensation for families affected by past protests.

UDA noted that the deliberations are a practical demonstration of the NADCO report’s blueprint, which laid out a roadmap for bipartisan reforms in Parliament. Key pillars of the report include electoral justice, sustainable political party financing, and the establishment of a shared framework for budget-making to ensure inclusivity and transparency in governance.
NADCO Report reaffirmation
”The meeting is also reaffirming the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, which charts a path for bipartisan reforms in Parliament. These include electoral justice, sustainable political party funding, and a shared framework for budget-making. As deliberations continued, the gathering is signalling a new era of collaboration in lawmaking and oversight, with unity and reform standing out as the guiding principles,” UDA said as the meeting progressed.
Top representatives from both parties maintain that the bipartisan engagements represent a new chapter in Kenyan politics, one that seeks to bridge partisan divides and prioritise reforms over political rivalry. With both Ruto and Odinga at the helm, the move is being viewed as a potential turning point in stabilising the country’s political environment.
As discussions proceed, UDA maintains that the ODM–Kenya Kwanza pact will be remembered as a decisive step towards actualising the NADCO report and laying the foundation for unity, reform, and inclusive governance after anti-government protests that have been rocking the country since June 2024.
