UDA issues last-minute notice to limit number of aspirants expected at State House

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is set to hold an aspirants’ forum at the State House. The forum is set to bring together thousands of aspirants in preparation for the 2027 General Elections.

Confirming the meeting late on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the UDA made it clear that only successfully registered aspirants who have received official confirmation from the party will be allowed at State House.

“Dear Aspirants, please be advised that attendance at tomorrow’s UDA Party Aspirants Forum at State House, Nairobi, is strictly limited to aspirants who successfully registered and received official confirmation from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party. Only aspirants who have received a direct invitation message from the Party will be allowed entry to the forum,” UDA notified its members.

“All eligible aspirants are required to carry their National Identity Card or Passport for verification upon arrival. We kindly urge all aspirants to take note of this requirement and make the necessary arrangements accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation,” the statement added.

Breakdown of registered aspirants

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, in a statement earlier, revealed that 149 aspirants have registered to seek the 47 gubernatorial seats, 279 are eyeing the 47 elected senator positions, 323 aspirants have registered for the 47-woman representative seats, 1,372 hopefuls are targeting the 290 National Assembly constituency seats, and 10,230 aspirants are competing for the 1,450 elected ward representative seats.

According to Kindiki’s data, 12,353 aspirants have so far expressed interest in vying under the UDA ticket in 2027.

Kindiki has also made it clear that incumbent UDA governors, senators, MPs or MCAs are not required to register as aspirants at the moment.

“Incumbent UDA Governors, Senators, MPs or MCAs don’t need to register as aspirants at the moment,” Kindiki said.

The forum comes a day after the UDA aspirants’ forum was officially launched by the party’s National Steering Committee (NSC) under the chairmanship of party leader President William Ruto, as the ruling party warms up for the 2027 general elections.
