The only way to end abductions is to remove Ruto – lawyer Ndegwa Njiru
By Kiprono Keileb, September 25, 2025Keen political critic and lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has launched a fresh attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of presiding over a regime responsible for abductions and human rights violations.
Speaking during a political talk show aired by a local radio station on Thursday, 25, 2025, Njiru said that the current political moment demands unity among Kenyans to end what he described as a reign of fear and intimidation.
According to Njiru, the opposition’s priority is not just about addressing individual cases of abductions, but confronting what he called the “root cause.” He insisted that the problem starts with President Ruto himself.
“We’re uniting to send William Ruto home, that’s the first agenda, ‘Wantam,” Njiru declared.

The lawyer claimed that so long as Ruto remains in office, conversations around ending abductions would be meaningless. He directly accused the head of state of being behind the alleged disappearances.
“You cannot speak about ending abductions while William Ruto is still president. This is because he is the author, perpetrator, and owner of those abductions,” Njiru said.
Njiru further argued that these alleged abductions undermine the country’s democracy and constitutional freedoms. He warned that Kenyans cannot afford to normalise what he described as a pattern of state-sanctioned intimidation.

The outspoken lawyer framed the current political struggle as a collective responsibility, saying citizens must take charge if the country is to reclaim its democracy.
He described the abductions as part of a wider scheme of fear meant to silence dissent and weaken opposition voices.
Njiru’s remarks come at a time when concerns over governance, human rights, and security continue to dominate political discourse.
By linking the issue of abductions directly to the presidency, his comments are likely to intensify the debate on accountability and state responsibility.
The lawyer closed his remarks with a rallying call for solidarity, insisting that sending Ruto home was the only way to restore hope and justice in Kenya’s governance system.
