Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has suspended all church fundraisers.

This is after he was slammed by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale over the amount he has been contributing to the church fundraisers.

Sudi on church fundraisers

Sudi in a statement shared via his official social media accounts on Sunday, June 30, 2024, said he will be suspending his fundraisers for about two years, terming Khalwale as one of the jealous persons that has made him stop helping churches.

Mungu akinijalia na mawazo yangu irudi vile nilikuwa naendelea na vile nilikuwa nafikiria, we are going to ban these harambees because, watu wengi hawajui tunatafuta hizi pesa za harambee vipi. Hawajui vile tunastress marafiki zetu na biashara zetu tukuje tufanye hizo harambee," Sudi remarked in a video shared through his official X account.

Sudi on Khalwale's swipe

Sudi in the video went ahead to attack Khalwale for criticizing his fundraisers when he could not help build the church he was speaking from.

The controversial MP told Khalwale that it was wrong for him to launch an attack against him over church fundraisers while speaking from a mud-walled church.

Sudi added that when he resumes his fundraisers in two year's time, he will start with contributing money to the church Khalwale was attacking him from.

Mungu hafai kuwa kwa any kind of that.

In the caption used on his video, Sudi stated that the church fundraisers have been used to malign and disparage his good course, and should therefore be banned.

"Going forward, I'll not participate in any Harambee because it has been used to malign and disparage the good course-let the it be banned. Thus the current happenings in the country calls for introspection and consequently, I'm taking a sabbatical leave from public engagements," he captioned.

Khalwale's take

Khalwale while speaking at Musabale PAG Church in Navakholo Constituency, Kakamega County, said that President William Ruto is being dragged by wasteful Cabinet Secretaries and MPs, who have been flying in helicopters and contributing millions in church harambees.

Khalwale took a swipe at Sudi, whom he accused of contributing up to Ksh20 million in a single church harambee.

How can a normal MP go to a harambee and contribute Ksh20 million to a single church?" Khalwale said in a video shared on his X account.
