By , November 14, 2025

Starehe Member of Parliament Amos Mwago has urged President William Ruto to focus on service, accountability, and citizen-centred leadership, stressing that true progress comes when leaders put the people first.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Friday, November 14, 2025, Mwago emphasised the qualities he believes should define Kenya’s leadership. “Dear William Ruto, Better leadership is built on integrity, vision, and the courage to put people before personal gain. It means listening to citizens, making transparent decisions, and taking responsibility when things go wrong,” the MP said.

Mwago highlighted the role of leaders in uniting communities and creating opportunities, particularly for young people.

“True leaders unite communities, inspire progress, and create opportunities for everyone, especially the youth, to thrive,” he noted, calling on leaders to build systems that foster inclusion and economic growth.

He further stressed that leadership grounded in service and long-term thinking is essential for national stability and prosperity.

“When leadership is rooted in service, accountability, and long-term thinking, it becomes the engine that drives a nation toward stability, growth, and a future filled with possibility,” Mwago said.

The MP’s remarks come at a time when discussions around governance, youth empowerment, and economic planning are taking centre stage in political debates. By focusing on principles such as integrity, accountability, and transparency, Mwago is urging leaders to prioritise the welfare of citizens over personal or political interests.

Mwago’s call comes at a time when there is growing public demand for leaders who listen to citizens, take responsibility for decisions, and create sustainable opportunities for all segments of society. His statement signifies the need for governance that is both visionary and grounded in the everyday realities of Kenyans, especially the youth, who form a critical part of the nation’s future.
