Speaker Muturi dismisses allegations of joining DP party for his 2022 bid

The speaker of the national assembly Justin Muturi has dismissed claims that there is a plan to install him as party leader for Democratic Party (DP).

According to Speaker Muturi, the reports are untrue since he is yet to find a suitable party that he will use to seek the presidency.

Speaking at his Kanyuambora home during a meeting with clergy from East Africa Pentecostal Churches, Muturi said the Mt Kenya region has the right to produce a presidential candidate in any General Election.

“Let the torch bearers be from the East, we have walked together before so we can also walk together to realize dreams of development in our region,” Muturi said.

Muturi revealed that plans were underway by leaders from Mt Kenya East to form a party that will advocate for their interests.

“We should think of coming up with a strong party that will bring people from all over the country together,” he said.

Muturi also warned locals against marketing parties that do not advocate for their agenda adding that they need to own a party that will put them on the negotiation table for better things in the future government.

He at the same time challenged the clergy to guide their congregation on who they should elect to avert scenarios where incompetent leaders find their way to leadership offices.
