Silvanus Osoro: We will have a coalition of the willing in 2027
By Kenneth Mwenda, July 13, 2025South Mugirango MP and National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro has boldly declared that Kenya’s political future is heading towards a powerful alliance in 2027 – a “coalition of the willing” led by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Migori during a women’s empowerment programme, Osoro backed Raila’s recent call for a national dialogue, saying it is time Kenyans held honest conversations about the country’s future.
“Enough is enough; na Baba jana alisema ya kwamba we need a national dialogue, na sisi kama viongozi tunasupport what Baba said ya kwamba people must talk,” he said.
Translation: “Enough is enough; and yesterday Baba (Raila Odinga) said that we need a national dialogue, and we as leaders support what Baba said – that people must talk.”
Osoro also issued a rallying call to fellow leaders, stating that in the 2027 general election, only those aligned with this new wave will be part of the decision-making table.
“Hii Kenya ndume ni mbili; William Samoei Ruto na Raila Odinga. Na kama hawajasema, hakuna kitu inatendeka. Ata mahali tunaelekea, 2027, tunaenda kutengeneza a coalition of the willing. Coalition kama ile ya Pentagon. Kama hauko ndani, kaa nje.”
Translation: This Kenya has only two bulls; William Samoei Ruto and Raila Odinga. If they haven’t spoken, nothing happens. As we head to 2027, we will form a coalition of the willing. A Pentagon-style coalition. If you’re not in, stay out.

Equity in development push
He emphasised that this coalition aims to ensure every region of Kenya feels the impact of national development. Osoro criticised past administrations for skewed budget allocations, favouring certain areas over others.
“Kwa sababu sisi, ata sehemu hii ya Kenya, lazima iweze kuskia maendeleo ya Kenya. Zile serikali ambazo zimepita, walikuwa wanapanga bilioni kumi, wanaweka bilioni nane sehemu moja, alafu bilioni mbili tunagawanya sisi wote Kenya mzima.”
Translation: Because even this part of Kenya must feel national development. Previous governments would allocate 10 billion, put 8 billion in one area, and share the remaining 2 billion across the whole country.
In a statement directed at ODM leaders Opiyo Wandayi and John Mbadi, Osoro said Nyanza should seize the moment, especially now that it holds powerful government positions.
“Nataka kuambia Opiyo Wandayi na Mbadi ya kwamba it’s for the first time tuko na powerful ministries.”
Translation: I want to tell Opiyo Wandayi and Mbadi that this is the first time we have powerful ministries.
