Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has expressed his gratitude after being hosted by one of the late Raila Odinga’s loyal friends in Meru.

Taking to his official X account on Sunday, March 15, 2026, Sifuna noted that he had been hosted by Zablon Mathenge at his rural home in Meru.

According to the embattled Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary general, this is the second time Mzee Mathenge has hosted him at his home.

Sifuna noted that Mathenge had hosted them in the very home in Meru in February of 2024, expressing gratitude for having been invited again.

“Mzee Zablon Mathenge was one of Baba’s true friends. He hosted us in this very home in Meru in February of 2024. I’m honoured beyond measure that Mzee Mathenge has chosen to continue this friendship by inviting me back,” Sifuna wrote on X.

Sifuna’s visit to Meru comes at a time he is consolidating support for his Linda Mwananchi movement ahead of the 2027 general election.

Led by Sifuna, the Linda Mwananchi movement comprises leaders such as Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino, his Saboti counterpart Caleb Amisi, South South MP Caroli Omondi, Vihiga Senator and the ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi, among other leaders who have broken away from the ODM faction allied to the broad-based government arrangement.

Linda Mwananchi engagement platforms

Sifuna recently urged Kenyans to get involved in the Linda Mwananchi movement, sharing multiple platforms where supporters can engage with the movement online.

Taking to his X account on Friday, March 13, 2026, Sifuna listed a number of ways people can connect with the movement, including a dedicated website, lindamwananchi.com, and social media accounts on X, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

“All the ways you can be part of the movement… On the web http://lindamwananchi.com @LindaMwananchi_ on X, @LindaMwananchi_ on IG, @LindaMwananchi_ on TikTok, @Linda Mwananchi on FB. Happy Friday!” Sifuna wrote on X.

He encouraged his supporters to be part of online engagement, outlining the number of people who had joined the movement.

Mombasa rally

Sifuna also announced that his Linda Mwananchi movement will hold a grand rally at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa after the Ramadan festivities.

While speaking during a church service in Ruai on Saturday, March 14, 2026, Sifuna made the announcement just days after his Linda Mwananchi movement took a hiatus to allow the Ramadan period to be completed.

“We are scheduled as Linda Mwananchi to be in Tononoka after this Ramadan,” Sifuna said.
