Sifuna: Allan Ademba deserves state commendation for Niko Kadi movement

By , April 21, 2026

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has championed the recognition of young civic leaders, specifically calling for a state commendation for Allan Ademba for his massive success in voter mobilisation through the Niko Kadi initiative.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Sifuna stated that Ademba managed to convince many youths to register as voters through civic education and online mobilisation.

He shared his own experience running registration drives as a leader, emphasising that this process was achieved through intensive civic education.

“As a leader of a political party myself, we have run multiple registration drives in previous elections, and we know just how difficult it is. I want to take this opportunity to commend the young people of this country who have decided that they are going to run this registration drive themselves,” Sifuna said.

“There’s a young man on social media called Allan Ademba. If there was ever a person in this country who deserves a state commendation, it is that young man who has mobilised the Tuko Kadi movement.”

Why this matters

Sifuna stated that Ademba has successfully mobilised over a million young people to register as voters within a short period.

He stated that it was admirable for Ademba and his team to do so without the massive budget that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had.

“What Ademba has been able to achieve in terms of registration of over a million young people in a very short space, I think some of these titles some of us have should be given to him because of the civil education he is doing and a fraction of the budgets we see from IEBC,” Sifuna stated.

Niko Kadi challenge

The Kenyan youth mobiliser Ademba has been at the forefront, urging citizens to reconsider their methods and locations of voter registration, claiming old voting habits are helping perpetuate low voter turnout in the country.

Taking it to his X handle on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Ademba condemned the general attitude of people wanting to vote in their rural residences, even though they live and work in the cities. He observed that most of these people hardly get to travel upcountry during elections, and most of them do not know the candidates who are running in those places.

Mimi kura yangu ni ya ushago.” Jayden umeishi Mombasa maisha yako yote. Haujui hata aspirants wa MCA, MP, Governor, WR na Senator wa ushago kwenu. Most likely Hautaenda Ushago because you lack motivation. Please register to vote, kwa area unaishi. How will you receive services in Busia if you are a Nakuru resident? These are some reasons we had 8M not turning up to vote,” Ademba noted.

The Tuko Kadi campaign still goes on to mobilise the youth throughout the land and motivate them to enrol as voters, change their voting points where needed and participate actively in the governance.

The movement has said that it is targeting 2.5 million new registered voters by the closure of the enhanced continuous voter registration on April 30, 2026.
