Senator Sigei reveals details of UDA’s upcoming NEC meeting after grassroots elections
By Mabonga Makhanu, January 13, 2026Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei has revealed details of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2025, following the completion of grassroots elections.
Speaking during a TV interview on Tuesday, January 13, 2025, the senator explained that the party is currently evaluating the grassroots elections conducted in 20 UDA zones.
The NEC meeting will validate the election outcomes and confirm the 20 delegates per polling station who will progress to the ward level to elect another 20 at the sub-county level and subsequently at the county level.

He noted that this process demonstrates that even as the ruling coalition, UDA is seeking full participation and involvement of every member from the lowest level of representation.
“We are now doing an evaluation, sort of a process, of the grassroots elections that were conducted in the UDA zones, 20 counties, to be precise. And tomorrow, we’re going to have the National Executive Committee, which will now validate all those elections and their outcomes to have the delegates 20 per polling station, to be part and parcel of the team that will progress to the ward level to elect another 20 thereafter at the sub-county level and subsequently at the county level. That tells you that even UDA is the ruling coalition,” Sigei said.
The senator also stated that the party, just like their sister party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has embarked on talks of how they can form a pre-coalition agreement with other parties. They are also planning for political arrangements leading up to the 2027 general elections while maintaining their primary responsibility of delivering services to the people of Kenya.
He added that discussions on possible post-election coalitions are ongoing, focusing on broadening and solidifying party formations and incorporating new political parties, while ensuring that the promises made to the Kenyan people continue to be fulfilled
Grassroot polls
This announcement comes days after the grassroots elections, which took place across various locations except in Mbeere North Evore Ward and Muminji Ward, where by-elections are slated for February 26, 2025. In these areas, the party opted to carry out nominations instead of grassroots polls.

President William Ruto also participated in the grassroots elections, casting his vote at Koilel Primary School in Uasin Gishu County.
