Senator Ongeri launches bid for Kisii gubernatorial seat
Kisii County Senator Sam Ongeri has announced his candidacy for governor on Friday, claiming he was the best candidate to succeed current Governor James Ongwae.
Ongeri, 83, who spoke at his Gesusu home, stated that he has plenty of experience needed to steer the county in the right direction given that he has been a civil servant, Member of Parliament, and Cabinet minister.
The veteran politician stated that if elected governor, he will ensure the county’s stability and prosperity.
Current Kisii governor James Ongwae and Woman Representative Janet Ongera stated that they were part of the same team.
“To the people of Kisii County, I have decided to vie for the Kisii governorship seat in the 2022 general election and need your support, “Ongeri said.
The senator further stated that Kisii residents deserve a true governor, and he was prepared to promote his manifesto while at the same time promised to continue Ongwae’s vision and ambition for the county.
He further said Kisii residents required a tried and tested leader to serve them as governor, and he was ready to sell his agenda to the people.
Ongeri said he would ensure stability and progress in Kisii county if elected as the next governor.
He will battle it out for the governor’s seat with Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati, Kenya National Congress Party leader Manson Nyamweya, Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Ezekiel Machogu, former South Mugirango Member of Parliament Omingo Magara, Transportation CAS Christopher Obure, and Charles Matoke.
