Nyandarua Senator John Methu has demanded the resignation of President William Ruto on grounds of failing in his constitutional and leadership mandate.

In a statement via his X account on Friday, January 17, 2025, Methu termed the abduction of Justin Muturi’s son, Leslie Muturi, and subsequent revelations as an indictment to Ruto’s regime, leaving the president with no choice but to resign.

Methu has additionally commended the former attorney general for his bold act of calling out the government.

Commenting on the incident, Methu accused the president of being privy to the abduction team that operates outside the constitution and parameters of Kenya’s law enforcement.

The senator therefore asserts that the president has failed in both his moral and constitutional mandate.

“President Ruto has lost the moral authority and character, has shaken our very Christian foundations, has lost the presidential stature and allure and has also failed the leadership and integrity test for his continuous breach of our constitution and must therefore immediately resign from office.” he insisted.

The abduction of Muturi’s son has elicited mixed reactions, leading some leaders to call for the resignation of the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi.

Already, MP Marianne Kittany and Sylvanus Osoro have threatened to bring a censure motion against the CS.

Others have praised the former Siakago lawmaker for exposing the issues of the government he is serving.

Justin Muturi has maintained his stance against abductions and dared those calling for his resignation or impeachment to make real their threats
