Salasya warns against trusting ODM, calls it a sellout
By Kiprono Keileb, February 13, 2026Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has issued a sharp warning to Kenyans over the direction and conduct of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying the party no longer represents the people’s interests.
He urged President William Ruto to decisively end ODM’s influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement shared on X on Friday, February 13, 2026, Salasya described the party as a vehicle for exploiting citizens rather than advancing genuine political solutions. Salasya criticised the party’s leadership for what he called self-serving practices.

“Trust ODM politics at your own peril. ODM ni mkebe wa kimbo wa kunasa wakenya, a sell-out party that has got no vision, no idea but to steal from Kenyans. Wacha odm ikufe,” Salasya said.
He further called on the President to take concrete steps to dismantle ODM’s influence, warning that continued funding and support only confuse Kenyans and reward corruption. Salasya urged for an end to the financial and political backing of ODM.
“Ruto maliza ODM completely na uizike kabisa as they continue eating your money to confuse Kenyans thinking you are foolish. Fund both sides now; give them 1B. It is enough to finish them, and withdraw funding for the fight. Watabaki wamekosanisha supporters wenyewe wakiwa united,” Salasya added.

Salasya emphasised the need to close the chapter on the party before the next general election, appealing to its founder to ensure nothing of value is left behind.
“Ukienda kupumuzika 2027 maliza pia ODM tafadhali; you are the founder member of ODM. Don’t leave behind anything you started, please sir,” he said.
He concluded by calling for a new political era focused on integrity and truthful leadership, distancing Kenya from what he described as conman politics.
“We are starting a new Kenya from 2027 of truthful leaders, sio hawa conman wa ODM,” Salasya said.
