Salasya: Matiang’i and Kalonzo are now paying the price for releasing their teams to Linda Mwananchi
By Mabonga Makhanu, July 27, 2026Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has claimed that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Jubilee deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i are now facing the consequences of allowing their allies to join the Linda Mwananchi faction.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Monday, July 27, 2026, the outspoken youthful politician, who has in recent months been critical of the Linda Mwananchi faction, dismissed the movement as a creation of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) aimed at weakening the broader opposition and derailing efforts to unseat President William Ruto in next year’s General Election.
Salasya argued that the decision by Kalonzo and Matiang’i to allow some of their MPs and senators to associate with the Linda Mwananchi movement had weakened their political camps, comparing it to handing over meat to a hyena.
“H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka and Dr Fred Matiang’i handed their MPs and senators to Linda Mwananchi, and now they are being shaken. You can’t hand over your meat to a hyena.”
MP Arama’s argument
His remarks come just days after Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama also called out the Jubilee deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i, urging him to call his troops to order, especially those from the Kisii region who have decided to accompany Sifuna.
Arama argued that Jubilee members associated with Linda Mwananchi should publicly declare where their loyalty lies, questioning whether they belong to Jubilee or the Sifuna-led political movement.
According to Arama, Jubilee and Linda Mwananchi are two separate political formations with different presidential candidates and political agendas despite both of them being appendages of the united opposition.
He argued that one cannot claim to be a committed member of Linda Mwananchi while at the same time remaining fully aligned with Jubilee, noting that leaders within the Linda Mwananchi movement have openly been campaigning and mobilising support for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s presidential ambitions, while Jubilee remains associated with Fred Matiang’i, who is also widely viewed as harbouring presidential ambitions.
Pauline Njoroge dumps Jubilee
The debate has intensified following the resignation of digital strategist Pauline Njoroge from the Jubilee Party, where she had been serving as the deputy organising secretary, before aligning with the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Linda Mwananchi, which initially emerged as a rebel faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has since grown into a broader political movement, attracting politicians from several parties within the opposition.

However, members of the movement have consistently maintained that joining Linda Mwananchi does not diminish their roles in their respective political parties. They argue that the movement is a coalition of like-minded leaders pursuing a common political agenda and that they are there after being released by their respective parties.
The group’s leaders recently paid a visit to Fred Matiang’i at his home, with plans also underway for a similar visit to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other principals of the United Opposition.
