Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya continued his nationwide tour with a visit to Isiolo County, aiming to garner support for his 2027 presidential bid.

On Friday, May 16, 2025, Peter Salasya took to his official social media channels to share a series of photos from his engagement with Isiolo residents, expressing his appreciation by describing them as ‘amazing people.

“Isiolo Town, you are amazing people,” Salasya said.

Salasya’s campaign continues to gain momentum as he traverses the country, engaging with diverse communities to build support for his presidential aspirations. His efforts include uniting the Luhya community and promoting political cohesion to strengthen their influence in national affairs.

Presidential bid

His presidential countrywide tour comes after Salasya, on Monday, April 28, 2025, made official his plans to run for the country’s topmost job in the 2027 general elections.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, the young parliamentarian shared that he had arrived at this decision after wide and careful consultations, insisting that he was now certain about directing his energy to battle for the major seat.

According to him, the decision was also largely fuelled by the current state of political turmoil in the country, and it was key that he run to try and give the country a change in leadership.

“Fellow Kenyans, after deep reflections and careful considerations of the state of our nation, I, Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for the Mumias East constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 general elections,” he stated.

Salasya went on to emphasise that the decision was not made lightly, urging the public not to assume it was a simple choice for him.

He expressed that it stemmed from a profound desire to offer bold, transformative leadership, one that would propel Kenya into a future of industrial growth, economic empowerment, and social justice.

“My decision is not taken lightly; it comes from a deep desire to offer transformative leadership that will reorient our nation for industrial growth, economic empowerment, and social justice,” he asserted.

“Kenya is at a crucial juncture: we cannot continue sending our labour and talent abroad while our industries falter and our youth remain mired in unemployment. I am convinced that Kenya must industrialise, innovate, and create sustainable employment opportunities to unlock the immense potential within our people.”
