Salasya blasts Senate after Gloria Orwoba is whisked away, car impounded
Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has strongly criticised the handling of former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba, who was whisked away and her car impounded following a dramatic incident at the Senate.
Through his social media accounts on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Salasya expressed concern over what he termed as disregard for court orders. He noted that the incident occurred on the same day the country was celebrating 15 years of devolution at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), an event meant to honour constitutional gains.
The MP argued that the Senate leadership, including Speaker Amason Kingi and the Clerk of the Senate, should have respected the rule of law instead of what he described as acts of impunity. He maintained that Orwoba, despite her ouster, deserved to be treated with fairness and dignity.
“As they are in KICC celebrating the constitution, someone is not honouring court orders. This is absurd. Gloria Orwoba deserves better. I ask the speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Amason Jeffah Kingi EGH, the Senate of the Republic of Kenya, and the clerk of the Senate to obey the court orders waache ujeuri,” Salasya stated.

Orwoba’s senate drama
Ousted nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba’s vehicle was towed away on Wednesday after she used it to block the Senate gate.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, shortly after she was denied access to the Senate, despite citing a court order that she claimed temporarily reinstated her to her position.
Orwoba was seen attempting to prevent the tow truck from taking her vehicle, struggling to dismantle the chains securing it, but her efforts proved futile. Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale tried to intervene and calm the situation, though his efforts did not succeed. Orwoba continued to push back against the enforcement team as they towed away her white Land Cruiser Prado, but the standoff ended unsuccessfully.
The confrontation ended with three female police officers manhandling her and escorting her away from the scene.
Denied access
Earlier, she had staged a protest at the Senate gate, demanding entry into the chambers.
Orwoba described the Senate sitting discussing the Kericho Governor’s impeachment as illegal, arguing that Consolata Wakwabubi, who was recently sworn in to replace her, was a stranger in the House.

She insisted that Wakwabubi’s swearing-in was unlawful and therefore invalidated the proceedings.
“As long as the lady called Consolata Wakwabubi is sitting in the Senate even now, that sitting is illegal. That is a stranger in the flow of the house; there is no impeachment that is going on with a stranger in the flow of the house.”
