Saboti MP Amisi urges Kenyans to boycott Ruto’s public rallies
By Ascah Mwango, July 9, 2025Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has called on Kenyans to boycott President William Ruto’s public rallies, saying it would be the most peaceful and effective way of expressing dissatisfaction with the government.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Amisi said avoiding the President’s events would send a strong message without resorting to street demonstrations, which he said have resulted in unnecessary deaths and destruction.
“This is the best form of protest. Wananchi is to avoid attending his meetings,” Amisi said.
The MP was reacting to images of President Ruto’s visit to Dagoretti North, Nairobi, where he appeared to be addressing a sparse crowd.
He argued that if the President continued speaking only to government officials, police officers, and hired supporters, it would eventually force him to see the growing public dissatisfaction.
“If he addresses the same police officers, same hired goons, and the same government officials in every function across the country, he will know there is something wrong,” Amisi added.
“But building up into his functions, whether there is money to collect or not, plays to his narrative of one against others.”

He further urged young people and Kenyans at large to avoid violent protests, warning that they often end in tragedy.
“These other protests that lead to the destruction of people’s property must stop. We can’t destroy the little left of our country as if we lack options for showing dissatisfaction. Goons will not take advantage of protests, and many deaths can be avoided,” he said.
While in Dagoretti, President Ruto condemned violent protests, labelling those involved in attacks on police officers, businesses, and public property as terrorists.
“Those who attack Kenyans, police officers, security installations and businesses are terrorists. Such criminal acts are a declaration of war. We will not allow our country to be destroyed by retrogressive elements that are seeking shortcuts to rise to power. Enough is enough!” Ruto said.
The President was in Dagoretti North to inspect the ongoing construction of 540 affordable housing units at the Kilimani Police Station grounds, part of his government’s housing agenda.
Tensions have been high across the country in recent weeks as anti-government protests have intensified.
