Ruto to opposition: Prepare for an early defeat
President William Ruto has sounded a warning to the opposition brigade to prepare for an early defeat at the ballot in the 2027 elections.
Speaking to residents of Nandi County during a stopover in the country on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Ruto dismissed his critics as having nothing new to offer apart from empty slogans and tribal rhetoric.
The head of state said that he would deal decisively with them when he gets to face them in the polls.
“The time for politics is not yet there. You have seen those people making rounds here and there,” he stated.
Ruto further stated that his immediate focus is on delivering his mandate to Kenyans, stressing that he will deal with his opposers when the time comes.
“At the moment, I am focused on working; when the politics begin, we will show them dust. They are people with no plans, agenda, nor brains. Theirs are mere slogans. We will beat them very early and send them home,” he stated.
His sentiments come after DP Kithure Kindiki sounded a similar caution to the opposition, telling them to brace for a political showdown of intense fireworks when Ruto officially hits the campaign trail for the 2027 polls.

Speaking in Njoro, Nakuru County, on Friday, August 1, 2025, the DP stated that the Kenya Kwanza regime had not yet started campaigning, adding that it would be a different scene when Ruto kicks off his re-election bid.
Expect fireworks
“Campaigns are not yet here. Ruto has not even started campaigning. He is yet to kickstart his bid for re-election. When he does, it will all be fireworks, and they will not believe it,” he stated.
The DP also stated that the regime would stand vindicated with the numerous projects they have done as they seek to earn a second term from Kenyans.
“As the two-term team, we have the numerous works we have undertaken that will vindicate us. We have projects for roads, housing, and those for employment creation. It is what we have placed before Kenyans. We want those who campaign against us to also reveal theirs; they should leave the politics of incitement and tell us their agenda. They were once in leadership roles and should reveal what they did during their tenure,” he added.
