President William Ruto has affirmed his commitment to serving Kenyans while dismissing members of the opposition for describing the leaders as clueless and directionless.

Speaking on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Malava, Ruto stated that the opposition leaders are preoccupied with distractions.

Meanwhile, on his end, the Head of State defended his administration, saying that the Kenya Kwanza Administration is focused on the real work of transforming Kenya.

“I remain fully engaged in serving Kenyans and have no time for a clueless and directionless opposition. While they are preoccupied with distractions, we are focused on the real work of transforming Kenya. And that is where all our energy is, commitment, and attention rightfully belong,” Ruto said.

At the same time, Ruto responded to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who said the united opposition will be on his neck until they ensure he is out of office. The head of state also responded to Gachagua for questioning his sudden weight loss.

On his part, the First in Command maintained that the opposition leaders lack a clear agenda involving Kenyans.

Wale jana wamesema ati hawana agenda ati mambo ya kilimo hawana mpango…ati agenda yao moja ni William Ruto sasa mimi nawaambia mimi niko tayari,” Ruto said.

Gachagua’s remarks to Ruto

His remarks come at a time when the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, promised a rough time for President William Ruto, saying that the united opposition will be on his neck until they ensure he is out of office.

While speaking during the burial of the mother of Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa in Githunguri on Monday, March 16, 2026, the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) leader stated that the now-united alternative government will make sure that President Ruto does not rest for the next 15 months until they succeed in removing him from the presidency.

According to Gachagua, the recent pressure by the opposition, which has been calling out the government, has rattled the head of state, leaving him with limited options.

He vowed that their formation will continue to heap pressure on the president until they ensure that all the wrongdoings in the current administration are addressed. He assured Kenyans that they will always speak out against any actions meant to exploit public resources.

Kazi yetu going forward ni kukasirisha Ruto; we will make sure that William Ruto is not going to sleep for the next 15 months; he will only sleep after we remove him from power.”

Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) leader Boss Eugene Wamalwa, on his side, stated that since Ruto has realised he is likely to be a one-term president, he now wants to amass more wealth than all his predecessors combined, some of whom served as heads of state for more than ten years.
