Ruto explains major steps taken to strengthen Broad-Based Govt
By Cynthia Lodite, April 14, 2026President William Ruto has shared the major steps taken by the Kenya Kwanza administration towards strengthening the Broad-Based Government.
In a statement on his official X account on Monday, April 13, 2026, Ruto noted that among the major contributions are continuous consultation with grassroots and elected leaders.
According to the Head of State, continuous consultations have helped in keeping in touch with the realities of Kenyans.
At the same time, Ruto explained that keeping in touch with the grassroots leaders has led the government to ensure the decisions they make are shaped by the people.
“We are strengthening the Broad-Based Government through continuous consultation with grassroots and elected leaders.This keeps us in touch with the realities of our fellow citizens, ensuring the decisions we make are shaped by the people,” Ruto said.
In addition, Ruto explained that the Broad-Based Government’s goal has been to unite the country around a shared agenda.
On his part, the shared agenda is the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, as well as driving inclusive growth where no Kenyan or region is left behind.
“Our goal is to unite the country around a shared agenda – the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda – and drive inclusive growth where no Kenyan or region is left behind,” Ruto stated.
“At Kisii State Lodge, met over 2,000 grassroots leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties. We agreed to fast-track key development projects that prepare the region and the country as we advance Kenya’s ambitious transformation to a first-world economy,” he added.

UDA, ODM pact
His remarks closely follow after he affirmed a strong Political bond between the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement party in a strategic move to unite Kenyans.
In a statement on Monday, April 13, 2026, on his official X account, Ruto announced that both parties shall unite and work together.
While affirming both parties’ contribution towards the People of Kenya, Ruto disputed the underhanded forces driving division between the two Political Parties.
At the same time, President Ruto firmly noted both key political parties’ contributions towards making Kenya a better nation.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will unite and work together. The underhanded forces driving division between our two parties will not succeed. Our country is better when UDA and ODM are together,” Ruto said.
Ruto made his remarks shortly after inspecting the construction of Nyakoe Modern Market, Kitutu Chache South Constituency, Kisii County. Adding that, upon completion, the market will accommodate more than 300 traders.
