“You, the people of Meru, are the ones who voted for me and enabled us to form this government. I want you to remain united here in Meru. I’m committed to uniting all Kenyans because with unity, we can achieve the development program of our nation. I have committed to uniting all Kenyans and ensuring that all promises we made in the agriculture and other sectors are achieved,” he stated.

The president hit back at the opposition’s perpetual criticism of his administration, emphasising that they lacked an agenda to sell to Kenyans.

He also stated his readiness to work with willing partners in his quest to unite the nation.

“I have been in politics for a long time now. I cannot be intimidated by people. We cannot leave our agenda and go to the streets. We are committed to working. I’ve stated my readiness to work with those ready to join hands and work with others. The others can go to the streets and continue their propaganda and name-calling. We will wait for them in 2027,” he said.

*Those people have proved they have no plans apart from propaganda and politics. You ask them their agenda, and they say, “Ruto must Go! and Kasongo,” he jibed.

The president’s remark comes a day after the opposition politicians hit the ground running by touring the region on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Led by Democracy For Citizens (DCP) party leader Rigathi Gachagua, the politicians accused the president of sidelining the region upon ascending to office.

They remarked that Ruto attempted to derail the unity of the Ameru by driving a wedge between the larger Mt. Kenya.

Kasongo has persecuted and betrayed the Ameru people. He wanted to kick out Martha Koome from the office, he chased Japheth Koome from the police, and he is also harassing other children from this region,” he stated.

Linturi on his part, accused Ruto of unfulfilled promises, stating they will not forgive the president for going against the people.

The former minister accused Ruto of derelicting the Gakoromone market sewage after he promised to rehabilitate it.

“We trusted Ruto as a person who came to us with the Bible, but he cheated us. We can forgive you for what you did to us as politicians, but we can’t forgive you for betraying the GEMA community,” Linturi said.
