Ruto attends church service in Embu as Kindiki worships in Kericho
By David Nthua, July 5, 2026President William Ruto, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, attended a church service at Full Gospel Churches in Gatunduri, Embu County, as Deputy President Kithure Kindiki worshipped separately in Kericho County.
The president’s visit marks his second church engagement in the Mt Kenya region within a week, following his attendance at a public event and church service in Meru County last Sunday during his development tour of the region.
Meanwhile, Kindiki shared his location on Sunday, July 5, 2026, indicating that he was attending a church service in Soliat, Sigowet-Soin Constituency, Kericho County.
“Soliat, Sigowet Soin Constituency, Kericho County,” Kindiki posted on his official social media accounts.

Sunday engagements
Ruto’s appearance in Embu comes as he continues a series of public engagements across different parts of the country.
The Head of State has, in recent weeks, combined development tours with church services, where he has addressed congregations and interacted with local leaders.
His latest visit to Embu follows last Sunday’s trip to Meru County, where he attended events and reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing development projects in the region.
Among many things, during his tour in Meru, Nithi Bridge politics played out and saw President William Ruto once again promise to redesign the bridge.
Political significance
The separate church appearances by Ruto and Kindiki come at a time of heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Kenya Kwanza leadership has maintained frequent engagements with religious institutions and local communities across the country, while also continuing regional tours to highlight government programmes.
Sunday church services have increasingly become part of the administration’s public schedule, often providing an opportunity for the president and his deputy to interact with worshippers and local leaders before addressing national and regional issues.
The two leaders’ engagements in Embu and Kericho are expected to be followed by public addresses later in the day if tradition from previous Sunday visits is maintained.
