Raila meets India PM Modi, discusses Kenya-India relations

ODM party leader Raila Odinga paid a courtesy call to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the country.
Taking to his social media page, Raila expressed his delight to meet the prime minister with whom they discussed the bilateral relationship between Kenya and India.
He said that he hopes that the relationship between the two nations is strengthened so that they can continue learning from each other.
“Delighted to have had warm discussions with India’s Prime Minister @narendramodi. Our nations share a fond bond as many Kenyans have for decades attended universities here. I hope that we shall strengthen ties and learn more from each other in the years ahead,” Raila said.
On his side, Prime Minister Modi said that he has enjoyed a long term friendship with the ODM boss having interacted with him both in Kenya and India.
Modi further acknowledged the strong relationship Kenya and India share noting that he hopes the relationship between the two nations is strengthened further in the future.
“Delighted to receive my friend H.E. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of Kenya. I fondly recollect my past interactions with him in India and Kenya. India and Kenya enjoy strong bilateral relations and we welcome further strengthening of our ties,” PM Modi said.
Raila’s visit to PM Modi comes at a time when he has been in India, where reports say he took his elder daughter Rosemary Odinga for eye treatment.
During his visit, Raila was given a grand reception by the Indian authorities when he landed in Kochi, Southwest India.
