Peter Kaluma says ODM will back Ruto’s re-election in 2027
By Kiprono Keileb, December 28, 2025Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has said the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) will support President William Ruto’s re-election in the upcoming 2027 general election.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Peter Kaluma addressed the 2027 general election, indicating that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will throw its support behind President William Ruto for re-election.
The remarks come as political debates intensify ahead of the next election cycle, with parties both in government and in the opposition beginning to outline their strategies and potential candidates.

“The ODM party will field a presidential candidate in the 2027 elections. And, the candidate will be President William Ruto,” Kaluma stated.
He further challenged political competitors to present tangible plans for Kenya’s development rather than relying on political slogans or rhetoric.
“Pick your candidate faster, we meet at the ballot – let him come with a development record, a clear plan and an agenda to progress Kenya; not political rhetoric,” he added.

ODM-Ruto talks for pre-election coalition
Kaluma had earlier announced that the ODM will formally engage President William Ruto to establish a pre-election coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. He declared that the party is ready to open talks with the Head of State, framing the move as a strategic step toward the next polls while issuing a sharp warning to dissenting voices within the party.

“The ODM party is to formally engage President William Ruto for a pre-election coalition ahead of 2027. Let the traitors within exit, now,” Kaluma stated.
