Optimistic Mudavadi says DP Ruto is not special in 2022 presidential race
ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has insisted that he will be on the ballot for the presidency in 2022.
Seemingly indicating that he is not going to allow the slot to any member of the One Kenya Alliance that houses Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and KANU leader Gideon Moi, Musalia asserted that his eyes are strictly on the top job.
He also said he will be glad to face off with Deputy President William Ruto in the contest insisting that Ruto is a competitor just like any other in the country. That nothing is special about the DP.
“I have made it clear that William Ruto is a competitor the same way I am. The decision on who wins the presidency will be made by the people when they vote,” he said during an interview with K24 TV.
“As far as I’m concerned, I’m not about to panic if other political leaders are seeking votes in Western Kenya. I also do not expect them to panic if I’m moving to other parts of the country. That is what democracy is all about,” he added.
Mudavadi also noted that he is not leaning against any political debts since the narrative behind it don’t count.
“Ultimately, in politics, it is a question of persuasion. I want to run away from this philosophy of political debts because we know they don’t count. They are just promissory notes that might not be honoured,” he stated.
Speaking on corruption, Mudavadi noted that the country lacks the political goodwill to fight the vice.
