Omingo Magara quits UDA, cites lack of democracy
Former South Mugirango Member of Parliament Omingo Magara has quit United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Magara, who has been serving as the party’s treasurer, said the party lacked democracy.
Magara is a longterm friend of Deputy President William Ruto who is the UDA party leader.
He said he consulted his supporters in Kisii before making decision to quit the party.
“My political future and ambitions cannot be sufficiently addressed by the UDA party. I therefore immediately resign as a party member and as a treasurer.
“This has been such a heavy decision to make, as we must always allow the voice of the people we seek to lead to prevail over and above our personal ambitions,” he said on Monday.
Magara further said there was no other option but to quit the party because the voice of the people is the voice of God.
“Let us be vigilant for politics comes and goes but we as a people and as a nation, must remain united to allow us usher in the golden age of our republic,” he said.
