Ol Kalou MP-elect Sammy Kamau: Your ideas will shape our future
By Emmanuel Rono, July 17, 2026Ol Kalou MP-elect Sammy Kamau has pledged to embrace inclusive leadership, assuring residents that their views and ideas will remain central to his leadership as he prepares to assume office.
In his speech after his election victory on Friday, July 17, 2026, Kamau said he values the contributions made by residents during the campaign period and emphasised that engagement with the public would continue beyond the polls.
“I listened to the ideas most of you had. We can always share to improve Ol Kalou. We can always engage,” Kamau said.
Kamau accuse goons during the vote
Kamau has accused unnamed individuals of attempting to interfere with the just-concluded parliamentary by-election, alleging that armed goons and politically connected figures sought to intimidate voters despite the heavy security presence.
Kamau thanked voters for turning out in large numbers and praised security officers who maintained order during the exercise. However, he claimed the constituency experienced several security incidents that he said should be investigated.

“Though we had a few altercations here and there, you did very well,” Kamau told supporters.
He alleged that groups of armed individuals moved around the constituency in unmarked vehicles during the election.
Voter’s own security
Kamau further alleged that one person lost their life during the violence, describing the incidents as “shameful.”
“We encountered goons that had even more powerful weapons than even the armed officers, driving around in numberless vehicles, Subarus, Prados and pickups,” he claimed.

“It is very shameful of you that even a life has been lost today because of your endless manoeuvres within Ol Kalou,” he said.
The MP-elect also claimed that his supporters were forced to provide their own security after alleging attempts to infiltrate police stations.
“We were even forced to take care of our own security, running after you as you tried to infiltrate these police stations,” he alleged.
Kamau’s earlier attack
Kamau says armed, masked individuals attacked several polling stations, accusing them of attempting to disrupt voting as residents repelled the groups.

Speaking on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Kamau said the group first targeted Joseph Primary School before moving to other polling centres, including Simba, Mumbi, Huruma where he claimed residents forced them to leave.
He further said the group fired live ammunition as they retreated from the polling station, displaying what he said were bullet cartridges recovered at the scene.
“A few minutes ago, some masked, armed goons attacked St. Joseph Primary. Before they left, they fired at our people. These are cartridges from what we believe were live bullets,” he said.
