ODM MP Nyamita laughs off Raila-Gachagua comparison
Uriri MP Mark Nyamita has laughed off attempts to compare his party leader Raila Odinga with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over the topic of political consultations.
In what mirrors the deliberations that Gachagua has been engaging in since his ouster from government, the ODM leader on Monday, February 24, 2025, declared he will be consulting widely on the political aftermath of his African Union Chairmanship (AUC) elections defeat.
Reacting to the reports, Nyamita opined on the gulf difference between the two, stressing that the pair cannot be compared not even in their political experience.
“Raila was in Kisumu doing consultations. He has done consultations all over the country before and in the past. The difference between the two is day and night. Gachagua is domesticated in Wamunyoro and only consults in his village. We can engage in jokes but not as far as equating the two. Gachagua is two years in the game,” Nyamita said during an appearance on a local TV on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
On Gachagua’s tell-it-all tales since his ouster from government, Nyamita held that the confessions only serve to portray his gullibility.

The MP referenced his most recent admission while spilling secrets of his estranged relationship with his former boss, President William Ruto.
“He also portrayed himself as an extremely gullible leader. He continues to exhibit that. He admits he misled his people so didn’t bother to sit and think what was good for his people and region. He admits he was used to performing many other things including hurling abuses at some politicians. This is being also gullible. He says ‘I was instructed I was instructed’. Where is the leader there?” Nyamita posed.
Isolation
The lawmaker further stressed that Gachagua cannot talk of isolation when people from his backyard claim the lion’s share in William Ruto’s administration.
“Mt Kenya cannot talk of isolation. They have people in government. Look at their people in government how many cabinet secretaries they have. Is that isolation? Their purported leader goes to a public rally and gives an ultimatum to the president not to step in a particular region, then goes back and says the president is not coming to our region we are isolated. I wonder if his community can buy that,” he added.

The foregoing comes after Gachagua revealed his intention to seek advice from Raila Odinga on establishing a strong political party as he works on his own.
Speaking during a past interview on Monday, February 24, 2025, Gachagua disclosed that he admires how Raila has maintained the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) influence over two decades, and the calibre of leaders it has produced is commendable.
“I have two years; I have time to craft a very serious political party, and by the way, I do admire Raila Odinga and ODM. He (Raila) crafted a very serious political machine that has been there for 20 years, and again, the quality of leaders that are elected at the ODM is admirable. In fact, I would be going to ODM for benchmarking. I must talk to Raila Odinga; I must ask him, ‘Mzee, how did you craft this machine? How have you kept it going for 20 years?’ ODM is admirable,” Gachagua stated.
