“Last year, in collaboration with our partners European Union in Kenya, including the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), we successfully facilitated the registration of over two million new voters across eight counties in Kenya, the majority of whom were young people,” Octopizzo said.

The achievement, he noted, highlights the potential of actively involving communities in mobilizing citizens to exercise their democratic rights. He urged the IEBC to build on this success by ensuring voter registration is accessible and appealing to the country’s youth.

“If the IEBC is genuinely committed to expanding voter registration, it has the capacity to surpass these numbers. However, this requires meaningful engagement with the youth, increased accessibility through additional registration points, and the adoption of innovative, creative outreach strategies that resonate with today’s generation,” he said.

Octopizzo further stressed that empowering young voters is more than just fulfilling a democratic obligation; it is an investment in Kenya’s future leadership and governance.

By promoting creative outreach, community engagement, and youth-focused registration drives, Octopizzo believes Kenya can set a new benchmark for inclusive democracy in Africa. His initiative also underscores the role of influential figures in mobilising citizens and shaping political awareness among younger populations.

Through his work, Octopizzo has shown that music and activism can go hand in hand to inspire civic responsibility and active participation in governance. His call for youth-led voter registration is a reminder that the country’s future leadership lies in the hands of a generation willing to engage and take ownership of the democratic process.
