Oburu holds strategic talks with Turkana North MP ahead of ODM SDC
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Oburu Odinga, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, held high-level consultative talks with Turkana North MP Paul Nabuin as the Orange party intensifies preparations for its upcoming Special Delegates Convention (SDC).
Taking to his official X account, Oburu revealed that the meeting, held at his office in Nairobi, which has since been named as the Pawaa Center, brought together key political figures to deliberate on party strategy, grassroots mobilisation, and regional political dynamics ahead of the crucial convention.
According to Oburu, the discussions were centred on ensuring comprehensive readiness for the SDC, with leaders exploring ways to address emerging political challenges while positioning the party for future growth.
“It was a distinguished honor to host Hon. Paul Nabuin, Member of Parliament for Turkana North and Turkana County ODM Chairman, for a high-level consultative meeting at our offices in the Pawaa Center. We were deeply moved by the heartfelt condolences shared on behalf of the people of Turkana, reflecting a profound sense of regional solidarity and shared purpose,” Oburu stated.
The consultative session was also attended by Nairobi-based leaders, including Daniel Oria and Majiwa, who contributed to discussions on strengthening ODM’s presence in urban and grassroots structures.

ODM grassroots
Leaders emphasised the need to revitalise party networks across counties, with a focus on building robust frameworks to enhance coordination and mobilisation efforts.
“I was privileged to be joined in these deliberations by esteemed leaders from Nairobi County, Hon. Daniel Oria and Hon. Majiwa. Our discussions were both strategic and forward-looking, centered on ensuring comprehensive SDC preparedness to address upcoming regional challenges and opportunities,” he wrote on X.

New gubernatorial aspirant
A key highlight of the meeting was the formal introduction of a new gubernatorial aspirant seeking to join ODM, whom Oburu did not name.
The leaders agreed on the need for an aggressive recruitment and mobilisation drive aimed at expanding ODM’s membership base and injecting new energy into its structures.
“A significant highlight of the session was the advancement of party growth, as we formally received a new Gubernatorial aspirant who has expressed a dedicated interest in joining the ODM fold to serve the constituents,” Oburu wrote.
