Five legislators from Nyamira County have resolved and planned for a reconciliation meeting between the two warring MCA factions of the Nyamira County Assembly and the executive.

The lawmakers Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Patrick Osero (Borabu), Steve Mogaka (West Mugirango), Clive Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba) and Woman Rep Jerusa Momanyi have termed the political feuds in the county assembly and the executive as a big threat to the unity and development.

They also faulted Governor Amos Nyaribo and Senator Okong’o Omogeni for failing to address the wrangles and leadership crisis, which have rocked the assembly for the seventh month running.

There are two factions of MCA’s in Nyamira assembly led by Ekerenyo ward MCA Thaedeaus Nyabaro and the other camp led by Itibo MCA Lameck Sikweya with two speakers and two Assemblies.

Speaking during a burial ceremony in West Mugirango constituency over the weekend, Nyamoko said that as elected leaders they cannot afford to sit down and watch the county losing development because of petty divisive politics.

“We had given the senator and the governor humble time to address the differences between members of the county Assembly and from the look of things, the two leaders by virtue of their positions have failed to do so,” Nyamoko stated.

“That is why as elected members of parliament we  have resolved to hold a meeting with the warring factions  next week so that we can bring sanity and  these wrangles to an end in a bid to enhance  development  which has stalled  due to the wrangles ” he added.

Speaking during the same function, Mogaka accused governor Nyaribo of being behind and fueling the leadership wrangles in the Assembly. “It’s indeed sad and embarrassing that Nyamira County has two assemblies with two speakers. Which Assembly is now legitimate and is transacting the business of Nyamira county government and its residents,” Mogaka posed.

He lamented that because of the wrangles service delivery in the county has hit a snag particularly in hospitals where there are no drugs, the poor state of roads among many other critical areas.

Mogaka noted that funds meant for development cannot be accounted for because the county leadership has taken advantage of the wrangles to misappropriate the funds.

“The reconciliation meeting could also involve members of the public because they are the most affected when it comes to development and service delivery,” Mogaka added.
