Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has once again taken aim at his former boss, Democracy for Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua.

Through several Facebook posts on Tuesday, November 18 2025, Wambugu said the dice for Gachagua in Mbeere North have already been cast.

Wambugu’s attack on Gachagua

He added that from what he was hearing, Gachagua might be forced to flee the constituency.

Wambugu wrote, “I hear the heat might be more than Jofri expected in Mbeere North and he will not be able to stay there until the 27th as he promised.” He said the situation on the ground was shifting fast.

He added that the mood of voters was working against him.

He wrote, “Plus voters don’t seem to appreciate his bitterness, and it’s affecting Karish.”

Wambugu said the response was weaker than expected. He concluded that the plan had already changed.

Gachagua’s door style campaign sparks reactions

In the same breath, Wambugu also reacted to the photos of Gachagua moving door to door in Mbeere North while sharing tea with residents.

He told Malava residents to expect the same approach, saying, “Watu wa Malava, it’s your time. Kesho ni nyinyi mnaamshwa na Gachagua na thermos na watu wa camera.”

He joked that the pattern had now become predictable. He said the fresh images of Gachagua with locals were part of the ground routine the leader had adopted.

Wambugu then brought up what he said were remarks made by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku regarding the tea campaign.

“Ruku amesema Jofri anazunguka Mbeere na thermos akibisha milango apigwe picha.”

“Ati unafungua ukifikiria ni mgeni ama mtu wa kuleta maziwa kumbe ni jamaa wa Nyeri amebeba thermos na camera,” Wambugu said.

Political observers say Wambugu’s posts show a growing level of tension in the Mbeere North race.

They argue that the move to Malava suggests a sudden shift in direction for the United Opposition.

They also note that the minipoll has started attracting national focus. They expect more intense exchanges as the campaigns enter the final stretch.

The unfolding reactions now point to a heated contest where both strategy and image are becoming major points of debate.
