Ngirici praises DCP Ol Kalou primaries while mocking UDA nominations
Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici has come out with a cryptic message while congratulating Kamau Ngotho, who clinched the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ticket in the Ol Kalou party primaries.
In a statement shared on her social media pages on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the gubernatorial hopeful stated that even the third-placed candidate in the DCP nominations garnered more votes than the eventual winner of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) primaries.
Ngirici, who has been traversing Kirinyaga County while engaging residents after declaring her support for the “Wantam” movement, suggested that the outcome of the Ol Kalou mini-polls reflects the current political mood on the ground, which she claimed is increasingly shifting against the ruling UDA party.
“The number three contender in the Ol Kalou DCP nominations garnered more votes than the eventual UDA winner in the nominations. The message from the ground is loud and clear. Mene, Mene, Tekel. “Congratulations, Sammy Ngotho, for the astounding win,” she wrote.

Her remarks come after the DCP primaries recorded a significantly higher turnout compared to the UDA exercise. Kamau Ngotho emerged victorious in the DCP race with 12,957 votes, while the third-placed candidate, Peter Karanja, garnered 3,919 votes — a figure still higher than the 3,221 votes secured by UDA winner Samuel Muchina Nyaga.
Ngirici hails the DCP
This comes moments after Ngirici also heaped praises on the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party, the Jubilee Party, and other formations within the united opposition, saying that they represent what the majority of Kenyans want.

“The feedback I’m receiving from Ziara Mashinani has been overwhelmingly positive as outlined herein: 1. Wantam is the minimum. 2. DCP, PLP, JUBILEE, WIPER, DP & UMP represent what the people want. 3. We shall walk together as the people of Kirinyaga. Let’s continue engaging. ~ PWN”, Ngirici said.
Gachagua hails Ngotho
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also congratulated Sammy Kamau Ngotho after emerging victorious in the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) primaries for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Sunday, May 10, 2026, according to Gachagua, Ngotho, who garnered a total of 12,957 votes in the primaries, is a demonstration to Kenyans that the DCP party is a free and democratic space where the voices of people are respected.
“Congratulations, Sammy Kamau Ngotho, for winning the Olkalou Parliamentary party primaries for the DCP PARTY, garnering a total of 12,957 votes.”
