Natembeya warns Ugandans against voting in Kenya’s 2027 polls
By Emmanuel Rono, March 17, 2026Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has issued a stern warning over what he termed as the recruitment of foreign nationals from Uganda with the aim of participating in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a public gathering in Endebes on Monday, March 16, 2026, Natembeya claimed that there are efforts to bring in Ugandan nationals to influence the outcome of the polls.
He warned that such individuals would face harsh consequences if found within Kenyan territory for that purpose.
“Watu wa Endebes mjipange vizuri, mimi sitaki kuskia watu wa Uganda wanakuja kutoa vitambulisho hapa, pata hiyo tahadhari,” Natembeya said.
Loosely translate “Residents of Endebess, stay vigilant and organised. I will not tolerate reports of Ugandans crossing over to acquire identification documents here. Consider this a firm warning,” Natembeya said.
Stepping into the polling station
He warned that they will not go to the polling station if they acquire them and try to participate in the general elections. He added that he will not allow any of them to step into the polling station.

“Mtu akileta hiyo ujinga my friend, mimi niko tofauti kidogo. Mambo ya watu wa Uganda kuja hapa kuchukua IDs must stop maana ata mkichukua hizo ID hamtakanyaga hapa kupika hiyo kura, “ Natembeya said.
“If anyone tries to bring that nonsense here, my friend, they will see my true face. The issue of Ugandans coming here to obtain IDs must stop because even if you get those cards, you will not step here to cast that vote,” Natembeya said.
Participate in your Country
He said that they cannot allow them to come to Kenya and cast their votes, then go back to their country after choosing leaders who are not competent to lead.
He said that Ugandans should choose their leaders in their country and leave alone Kenyans to decide who to rule them.
“Hamwezi kuja hapa kutuchagulia viongozi wasiostahili, halafu mrudi Uganda. Nyinyi chagueni viongozi wenu huko Uganda, nasi tutachagua wetu hapa,” Natembeya stated.

“You cannot come here to choose leaders for us and then go back to Uganda. Choose your leaders in Uganda, and we will choose ours here,” Natembeya said.
He said that Ugandans are always welcome and free to visit the country for business and agricultural purposes, but when it comes to elections, they should avoid participating in the electoral process.
