Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has expressed her sentiment over the new-found friendship between Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

Speaking on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Kihara hinted that the relationship is set for a clash of personality based on the differences posed by the two parties.
According to the MP, Raila’s stance on matters of public concern will be at odds with President Ruto whom the MP contends is always concerned with his own personal and political expedience.

The MP has further expressed reason for caution of warming up to Raila, claiming that the recent happening within the Orange Party including the split over President Ruto’s support could be proof of a non-committal by the Orange brigade and its leader.

“I want to tell the president he has been there. You have seen two groups in ODM. Raila is just waiting for you as others promise to support you. I can assure you Raila is not going to support things that you’re doing that don’t coincide with what the public wants. You know everything Ruto does has a personal gain,” she added.

Kihara, an ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also waded into Martha Koome’s ouster saga. The lawmakers said the calls to oust the Chief Justice as more political witch hunt.

Fear of Koome

“The president has been campaigning and telling us not to do the same. Whatever he does is politics even this CJ thing. The CJ settled the case and said Ruto was the winner of the 2022 elections. In the event of another case, Koome who is a truthful woman will call it as it. It is unfair that Ruto is harassing her. It’s based in fears not that Koome has done anything wrong,” she contended.

Kihara’s sentiments comes a day after Azimio leader Raila Odinga arrival in country on Monday, February 24, 2025, threw his politicians into a quandary by holding a closed-door meeting with President William Ruto in Mombasa.

During the visit, Raila said that he will be making his political stance known soon in what could be a major political announcement yet from the former Prime Minster.

“We are available for Africa but more importantly we are availed for Kenya. I’m back home here. I’m going to meet with my friends and supporters. I’m going to consult widely for the next step forward and in due process we will confirm our way forward and announce it,” Raila said.
