Jane Kihara has implored the Ukambani region to reject overtures from the Kenya Kwanza government and rally behind the United opposition leaders in their quest to ascend to power.

Speaking on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Matituni, Machakos County, the three-time MP urged the Ukambani people to rally behind, stressing that Kenya needed to be emancipated from the current adminstration.

Reject the government

“Let’s unite behind these people here and let them take us to the state House and save Kenya. This country is gone, and we need to save it from bad leadership, and you are our saviour. Let us all support our leaders in the Rift Valley. We have Riggy G, and what he says is what we will follow. If Kalonzo says we go this way let us follow,” she asserted.

The lawmaker underscored the significance of the region remaining firmly with the opposition,

“Kenya is looking at you. The people have decided this government must go. We have heard that they are enticing you to join them. We know you have the numbers,” she stated.

Sabina’s warning to Opposition

Her sentiments come after nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Sabina Chege challenged the opposition-allied politicians to end their obsession with the upcoming political succession and discharge their representative functions.

Speaking on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the lawmaker also warned the opposition against underrating the incumbent William Ruto, stating that Ruto stands a huge chance of reelection against his rivals, who have not settled on a candidate to challenge him.

“I want to tell the United Opposition not to underrate the power of William Ruto. He won when he was competing against the state.

“They need to embrace the reality of the possibility of his reelection much more against an opposition fighting for a specific position and without a specific agenda for Kenyans,” he stated.

Kihara was addressing a delegation of the Ukambani residents at Matituni, Machakos Calvary Christian Tabernacle, where Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka were in attendance.
