Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria on Wednesday, October 13 announced that his party will hand over tickets to those aged 45 years and below.

In a Facebook post, the MP who is serving his second term in parliament said that anyone who is eyeing a Ward Representative position must be 45 years and below in order to fly the Chama Cha Kazi flag.

“Bad news if you are over 45 years and seeking to vie for MCA position. Chama Cha Kazi will not nominate anyone above 45 years to vie for MCA position. Let us walk the talk,” the outspoken MP said.

The move is aimed at luring the youth to register and run for various posts in the next general elections scheduled for August 2022.

Kuria further asked the Kenyan youth not to give up and ensure that they register as voters in their large numbers.

“Dear the youth of this great nation. Please do not give up on everything. Kindly, register as voters. It is about your lives and future. If I was in a position to, I would be jumping up and down with you in the villages working with you to ensure every eligible voter is registered but…” he further posted.

Kuria has in the past announced that he will not vie for the Gatundu Parliamentary seat saying that he was planning to take a break.

The MP who is currently admitted at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi has joined the list of politicians in the country who are now championing the rights of the youth and making an assurance that they will consider them after the 2022 elections.

On Tuesday, October 11, while meeting with youth drawn from the vast Mount Kenya region, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga said that he will appoint four youths into his cabinet if he is elected the fifth President of Kenya.

Equally, Deputy President William Ruto has been fronting the youth to work with him ahead of the next general elections.
