Mwingi Central MP makes bold declaration on 2027 presidential race

Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has expressed optimism that the United Opposition brigade will produce Kenya’s next president, backed by the historic alliance between the Kamba and Mt Kenya.

Speaking in Mumbuni on Saturday, September 20, 2025, the MP asserted that no candidate has ever received the backing of the mountain and failed to clinch the presidency.

Mulyungi premised his assertion on the newfound alliance between the Kamba community and Mt Kenya politicians, famously known as the cousins.

“I want to tell you to start getting used to your president. Get to know him because it will be one of them,” he stated.

Get used to new president

“For the first time, the Kamba community has united with Mt Kenya. If you go back in history, no president has risen to the country’s leadership without the support of Mt Kenya. It is why I am saying get used to your new president,” he posited.

Speaking at the same function, his Embakasi South Julius Mawathe vehemently denied the possibility of Kalonzo Musyoka joining up with the Kenya Kwanza government.

The lawmakers termed the ongoing reports of a possible shift from the Wiper Leader as mere propaganda.

“We are hearing these rumours that Kalonzo went to State House. At other times, that is speaking to someone. Let me tell you authoritatively, Kalonzo is here to save Kenya, and he will stand with the people. He has not spoken to anyone. No leader in the opposition, be it Gachagua, Muturi, or Eugene Wamalwa, will go to the state house or meet with anyone from the government,” he stated.

The Wiper MP from Nairobi further expressed optimism of the opposition triumph, asserting that the faction boass a commanding lead over the Kenyan Kwanza among the citizens.

Mobilising for the opposition

His sentiments came moments after Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara urged the Ukambani residents to pledge allegiance to the opposition amid mounting overtures from the Kenya Kwanza government.

Kihara underscored the significance of the region remaining firmly with the opposition.

“Let’s unite behind these people here and let them take us to the state House and save Kenya. This country is gone, and we need to deliver it from bad leadership, and you are our saviour. Let us all support our leaders. In the Rift Valley, we have Riggy G, and you have Kalonzo. Let us stick with them and allow them to tell us the direction to take,” she asserted.
