Muturi dismisses claims that his party is tribal
Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi who doubles up as the Democratic Party leader has slammed his opponents who have been claiming that the party is a tribal cocoon.
Muturi said that the party, like any other outfit, has its roots and a stronghold but is a national outfit that has members in all parts of the country.
Speaking in Murang’a when he graced the gubernatorial launch for DP’s aspirant Wairagu wa Maai, Muturi said every party is being formed with an intent to form the government and thus they should not be edged out.
“There is nothing wrong for any party to have its stronghold in any part of the country because it must originate from somewhere,” he said.
“We should not be told that our party is tribal because I have been going to various parts of the country to meet people at the grassroots,” he added.
Further, Muturi said the party has candidates seeking various elective posts.
“We are going around the country selling our agenda and policies to the people,” he remarked.
