Munya’s failure to resign as CS is gift from God – Governor Kiraitu
Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has welcomed the decision by Agriculture CS Peter Munya not to resign from the cabinet for an elective seat in the August poll.
Munya decided to retain his position in the cabinet to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta till the end of his term putting to an end speculations that he was to compete against Kiraitu in Meru in the upcoming general election.
“I have been reflecting on my political journey, and I have concluded that I will not resign. I want to use my resources and energy to serve this ministry to the end of President Uhuru’s term,” Munya said.
Following Munya’s decision, Murungi said that he had prepared to use a lot of resources in his campaigns thinking that Munya, his main challenger, would run.
“As the governor, I was expecting him to be my main competitor. I must say congratulations and thank you to him because he has made my work a bit easier,” Murungi said.
“Since it was going to be my last campaign (for Meru gubernatorial seat), I was going to throw everything to it to ensure I win again. So if my brother has made my life easier; then it’s a gift to me from God,” the governor said.
