Mudavadi shares details of his closed-door meeting with Malava MP-elect ahead of swearing-in

In a statement on his X page, Mudavadi conveyed his gratitude to the voters of Malava for electing the United Democratic Alliance candidate and described the choice as a reaffirmation of their commitment to leadership that is focused on service and progress.
He disclosed that he had challenged the incoming MP to remain faithful and focused on the task of leading the people of Malava and helping the region attain meaningful development.
“Fresh from his hard-fought and well-earned victory, I sat down with Malava’s Member of Parliament Elect, David Ndakwa, for a constructive conversation on the journey ahead.”
“We agreed that once he is sworn in tomorrow, the real work begins. The people of Malava deserve nothing less than efficient service delivery, meaningful development, and a leadership that remains connected to their needs, their aspirations, and their future,” he stated.
Swearing-in ceremony
Ndakwa is among five other MPs-elect expected to be sworn into office on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the National Assembly in an event presided over by speaker Moses Wetangula.
Following his by-election victory, the MP, who rose through the ranks from an MCA to a parliamentarian, spent the better part of his first weekend as MP-elect on Saturday, November 29, 2025, meeting and reconnecting with his constituents in a journey that took him through three wards in the constituency that had just come off the bustling phase of by-elections.
In his speech during a church service in Nangurunya, Ndakwa acknowledged the task of leadership, urging the residents to rally behind him as he embarks on his new role.
Leadership responsibility
The leader pledged to prioritise an all-inclusive leadership during his tenure as the MP.
“Kupita kura ni rahisi lakini kuongoza watu ndio pahali ambapo pana kazi yenyewe. Naomba maombi yenu ya ujasiri unisaidie. Huu uongozi ni wenu Ni ninyi mmechangia mimi kuwa kiongozi. Sasa mmeniandika kazi vile niliomba, na naomba mniunge mkono na kunisaidia.”
Ndakwa garnered 21,564 votes to narrowly edge out Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako, who got 20,210 votes in the hotly contested Thursday poll.
