Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has intensified early political mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election after calling on young people across Western Kenya to register as voters and actively participate in shaping the country’s future.

Speaking through his official X account on Monday, June 29, 2026, Mudavadi said youth remain central to strengthening Kenya’s democracy, noting that an informed and politically engaged generation will play a critical role in determining the country’s future leadership and development path.

“Our youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are active partners in shaping Kenya today. An informed, engaged and registered young population strengthens our democracy, promotes accountable leadership and ensures that the aspirations of the next generation are reflected in our nation’s future,” Mudavadi stated.

Western youth mobilization drive begins

The Prime Cabinet Secretary made the remarks after meeting members of the Sajili Vijana Magharibi Initiative led by chairperson Brian Kweyu, a regional campaign seeking to mobilize, educate and encourage youth across Western Kenya to register as voters ahead of the 2027 polls.

Mudavadi said voter registration should not only be viewed as preparation for elections but also as part of building responsible citizenship and ensuring young people directly influence decisions affecting their lives and communities.

Youth key to leadership and economic growth

At the same time, Mudavadi emphasized that youth participation extends beyond voting, saying empowering young people through civic engagement creates opportunities for leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and community transformation.

“Beyond the ballot, meaningful youth participation opens doors to leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and community development. When young people are empowered to take part in civic life, they become catalysts for economic growth, social cohesion and lasting national progress,” he said.

He further commended the initiative for championing civic education, reaffirming support for partnerships that promote active citizenship and help build what he described as a united, peaceful and prosperous Western region ahead of the next election cycle.
