Mudavadi faults Azimio’s demos

By , April 17, 2023

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has condemned Azimio la Umoja’s move to call demonstrations after the holy month of Ramadhan.

Mudavadi made the remarks as he termed the Azimio demands that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers be opened for verification as dishonest.

He said the Azimio team, led by Raila Odinga, is hoodwinking Kenyans into believing that elections were not free and fair.

“Raila and his troops have disregarded the spirit of the Constitution and the rule of law and have now become enemies of progress in upholding democracy in Kenya,” said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi made the remarks in his Sabatia backyard, Vihiga County.

“In democracy you have to agree there is a moment you will win and there is a moment you will lose. Even for Raila, if you are a true democrat, respect the will and wishes of the people of Kenya. You cannot at all the time, in every election season say that something has gone wrong,” said Mudavadi.

He reminded Azimio that they took their petition to the Supreme Court and presented its evidence as stipulated under the law.

“In its directive, the Supreme Court ordered and authorized the opening of servers to verify if what was tallied at Bomas reflected the exact results transmitted from the polling centres.

It is on record that both the Azimio lawyers and their Kenya Kwanza counterparts accompanied the Registrar of the Supreme Court through this exercise. Raila is forgetting what he is asking for now was granted to him a long time ago,” said Mudavadi.
