MP Jayne Kihara: I will never go back to Ruto

By , February 1, 2026

Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has stated that she will never return to supporting President William Ruto.

Speaking during a church service in Mathioya on Sunday, February 1, 2026, where the united opposition entourage was in attendance, Kihara unequivocally said she has nothing left in President Ruto’s camp and will not ditch the opposition formation.

She further added that even if her Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, decides to abandon the opposition and return to government, she will not accompany him and will remain in the opposition.

Siwezi rudi kwa Kasongo, wewe Rigy G ukiamua kurudi huko mimi sitakufwata,” she stated.

Ditching UDA claims

This comes amid mounting speculation that Kihara had ditched her DCP party to rejoin the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after her opponent, Wakili Njoroge, was spotted with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while seeking the DCP ticket.

Kihara, through her social media channels, strongly rejected the narrative linking her to the ruling party and maintained that she remains firmly aligned with the united opposition movement.

According to the legislator, the claims are part of a coordinated misinformation campaign aimed at discrediting leaders who have taken a firm stand against the current administration.

She described the individuals spreading the rumours as bloggers who are accustomed to transactional politics and believe that every politician can be bought. Kihara emphasised that her political journey is guided by values, principles, and conviction rather than money or political convenience.

“I see Singaporean bloggers are now on my case. Someone must remind them who Jayne Kihara is in our Kenyan politics. I think they’re used to dealing with politicians whose only language in politics is money, and they now assume every politician has a price tag,” Kihara stated.

She made it clear that she exited what she described as a dishonest political camp a long time ago and has no reason or motivation to return. Kihara insisted that there is nothing that belongs to her in that political space that would attract her back, reaffirming her commitment to the cause she currently stands for.

This comes a time when the Rigathi-led team is facing mass defections by Members allied to the former DP defecting to join other formations
