Moses Kuria warns Murang’a residents against Gachagua after ultimatum to Kang’ata
By Mustafa Juma, March 23, 2026Former President William Ruto’s senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has launched a fierce attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
While responding to Gachagua’s recent declaration that he would sponsor a rival candidate against Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata if the county boss fails to align with his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), Kuria warned Murang’a residents against what he termed ‘divisive politics’ ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kuria dismisses Gachagua’s ultimatum
In a statement shared via his official X account on Monday, March 23, 2026, the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party leader, who has since declared his interest in the Gatundu South parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, dismissed the ultimatum, urging Murang’a residents to prioritise development over political affiliations.

He sarcastically highlighted ongoing projects in the county, including agricultural subsidy programmes for mangoes, avocados, and milk, as well as major investments such as the Makenji Special Economic Zone and the PK Zabka Industrial Park, which he said are expected to create thousands of jobs for local youth.

Kuria also pointed to infrastructure developments, including a new hospital and stadium being constructed under Kang’ata’s administration, alongside Murang’a’s recognition as one of the most digitally advanced counties in Kenya.
“Dear my great and enterprising people of Fort Hall (Muranga County). Kangatacare does not count. The Mangoes, Avocadoes, and Milk Subsidy programme does not matter. Makenji Special Economic Zone and PK Zabka Industrial Park, and the 30,000 jobs that your youth will get there means nothing. The new hospital and stadium Kangata is putting up is worth a toilet paper. The myriad of awards that Muranga has gotten as the most digital County in Kenya can go to hell,” Kuria stated.

Sharp attack on Gachagua
The outspoken politician accused Gachagua of attempting to shift focus from development achievements to party loyalty, warning residents against being swayed by what he described as retrogressive politics.
He further escalated his criticism with personal attacks, describing Gachagua’s approach as selfish and backward, and cautioning that such leadership could derail progress in the county.
“The only thing you will look at when you go to the polls in the next 497 days is whether Gov Irungu Kangata is in DCP or not. You continue dancing and cheering to this retrogressive; selfish, backward psychopath. By the time you realise he has serious mental issues, you will have lost your sanity too,” he stated.
Gachagua, who has been consolidating support through his political outfit, has increasingly pushed for regional leaders to align with his movement, a strategy that has drawn both support and criticism.
