Mohammed Ali hints at teaming up with Sifuna and Babu Owino in cryptic message
Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali, alias Jicho Pevu, has hinted at joining Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s team after holding morning talks with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement shared on his social media accounts on Sunday, February 15, 2025, after being spotted with Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party leader Gachagua, Ali shared a message accompanied by photos of Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

He stated that when young leaders attack, they do so not with anger but advance from every corner with vision and unstoppable noise. He went on to hint at a joint political quest, saying, “Ngoma imeanza sasa.”
Opposition – Sifuna faction merger
Mohammed Ali’s meeting with Gachagua comes days after the DCP leader, during an interview, hinted at a possible alliance between the Sifuna-led faction and the United Opposition.
Speaking during an interview with K24 TV and several local Maa radio stations on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader included the Sifuna-led ODM wing in the broader United Opposition lineup.
He stated that if the faction fronts a strong presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto, such as Siaya Governor James Orengo, the current opposition principals who are eyeing the presidency would be willing to shelve their ambitions and rally behind that candidate.
Gachagua also cited Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah as a potential candidate within the united opposition lineup, noting that opposition leaders would likewise step aside to support him should he emerge as the strongest presidential flag bearer ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Kama hawa watu wa ODM B watatoa mtu akuje, kama ni Omtatah, pia akuje, tukae chini, tuulizane nani kati yetu ako na umarufu wa kutosha wa kusukuma huyu mtu aende nyumbani. Tutasikizana,” Gachagua stated
This also comes moments before the Sifuna ODM wing, now branded as ODM rebels or the Linda Wananchi team, is set to hold a rally in Kitengela as a fightback following Sifuna’s attempted ouster from the Secretary General position.
Mohammed Ali’s gubernatorial quest
Mohammed Ali has in the recent past been critical of the current regime, despite having vehemently campaigned for it to ascend to power.

He has also signalled intentions of eyeing the Mombasa gubernatorial seat under the United Opposition. He was previously spotted with the DCP leader and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in separate encounters.
