Former Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has reacted to the latest TIFA opinion poll, arguing that the findings indicate a majority of Kenyans want President William Ruto voted out in the next general election.

The poll placed President Ruto ahead with 24 per cent support, followed closely by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 19 per cent.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i ranked third with 14 percent, while Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna garnered 10 percent. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua followed with 9 percent.

In a statement shared on his social media handles on Friday, May 15, 2026, while reacting to the results, Linturi claimed that the figures show nearly 76 percent of Kenyans are dissatisfied with the current administration and are ready for political change ahead of the next election.

Linturi slams the state

The former senator further stated that despite ongoing empowerment programmes and financial donations by leaders allied to the government, many Kenyans have already made up their minds regarding the country’s political direction.

“In simple interpretation, this opinion poll means 76% of Kenyans want William Ruto to go home next year. This is even after he has tried all means, including calling tens of thousands of people in the statehouse to give them money, even after Soprano went round with bags of money giving to people in the name of empowerment.”

“Even after Kasongo went around giving youth money in the name of Nyota. The people of Kenya have already made the final decision that Ruto Must Go. Aende Asiende!”

Tifa polls

According to Tifa polls, they established that the emergence of Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi has increased confidence in the opposition team.

The report further stated that should the united opposition team up, the probability of defeating Ruto in 2027 is also high.

“The 2027 presidential race remains competitive but is becoming more defined, with President William Ruto currently holding the strongest individual position. The emergence of Edwin Sifuna and Rigathi Gachagua also points to a shifting political landscape,” the TIFA report stated

“Meanwhile, the declining undecided vote suggests that voter preferences are beginning to crystallise, increasing the importance of coalition-building and voter consolidation ahead of 2027,” TIFA added.
