Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna on Sunday, August 15, announced his resignation from the Thirdway Alliance Party.

The embattled lawyer also thanked a number of officials in the party who he has worked with since December 2020 when he was to fly the party’s ticket for Nairobi Gubernatorial seat.

The Canadian based lawyer asked the party to eliminate his name from its list and communicate the same to the Registrar of Political Parties in the country.

“This is to announce my resignation from the Thirdway Alliance Kenya, effective August 12, 2021. I thank the Thirdway Alliance Kenya team,” Miguna said in a statement.

Notably, Miguna stated that Miruru Waweru, Angela Mwikali and Elias Mutuma are leaders who are committed to good governance.

The outspoken lawyer further revealed that he did not have any plans to join Deputy President William Ruto linked United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party or Jubilee party.

He further stated that Musalia Mudavadi led Amani National Congress (ANC), Ford Kenya led by Moses Wetangula, Gideon Moi led KANU or any party are simply masquerading as political parties.

“They masquerade as political parties but whose operations are not undergirded by a progressive ideology and genuine commitment for transformation,” he said.

In December 2020 after the impeachment of former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko, Miguna was widely thought to be the man to fly the Thirdway Alliance’s ticket in case of a by-election.
